What's on offer?


Consultation

Bollington Fitness consultations are FREE and take about 45 minutes. During this time vital information will be gathered, such as your exercise/health/medical history, your preferences for exercise, your specific goals (weight loss/gain, strength, flexibility, improved sporting performance and so on), the time you have available for exercise and a timescale within which you would like these goals to be achieved.

 

Fitness Assessment

As a new client, a fitness assessment would be advised in order to assess your baseline fitness in a range of areas:

  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Posture
This allows improvements to be mapped accurately and also highlights problem areas that really should be addressed.

Body Composition Analysis

A person's body shape can tell us a lot about their health and lifestyle, and can also highlight potential areas of risk, such as Coronary Heart Disease and Diabetes. In addition, it will also tell us what to focus on through the training. Your height, weight, lean/fat body mass, waist:hip ratio, age and gender will be taken into account here but don't worry – all information given is kept in the strictest confidence!

Programme Design

The exercises prescribed for you will be based on your goals, previous exercise history and preferences. These factors will determine the number of sets and repetitions to be completed, and your Personal Trainer will ensure that you are in the correct ‘training zone' to see the benefits. This is because your body has no reason to adapt and get stronger if you continue to give it loads that it can easily lift. Likewise, the heart will not get more efficient unless it is put slightly outside its ‘comfort zone'.

If you wish to improve your sporting performance , your exercise prescription will be designed around the muscles and movements used during that sport, and a periodised programme for the year can be provided that will take into account a ‘season' for the sport, a preparation and a maintenance phase. Home Gym, Outside Exercise

Where you do your exercise is a very personal choice. Home, gym or outdoor exercise can be accommodated by Bollington Fitness and we have access to gyms in the Bollington/Macclesfield area. Don't worry if you're not a member of a gym, just contact us for more information. An average sized lounge, garden or children's play area can provide a good training circuit and is sufficient to raise the heart rate, burn calories and work every muscle in the body, so don't let a lack of gym membership be an excuse!

Nutrition Analysis and Healthy Eating

Depending on your goals, we will often ask for a Food Diary to be completed over a period of 7 consecutive days. The number of calories and the food types that provide them will be analysed and we will offer you an eating plan, if desired. Low carbohydrate, high protein and fat diets have all had pretty high profiles in recent years. At Bollington Fitness there is one very important, and surprisingly simple, equation:

calories in >calories burned = fat gain

Nutrition Analysis, Healthy Eating

We can advise you about healthy eating, and tell you how many calories should be provided by each of the main food types. Meal and snack content will be listed for you and, if you wish to gain weight or are on a particularly rigorous training regime, supplements can be suggested. Again, it's a very personal thing and everyone's requirements are different.

 

Group Training

If you're a little shy and feel more comfortable in a group, why not get a couple of friends together and book a Group Training Session? It's often more fun and gives you a little friendly competition, too! Contact us for details.
